Ceefax speaks very highly of them

They produced what Ceefax called “the 25th best record of 2008″, and they are, of course, Pavilion. I would like to draw your attention particularly to the fantastic ‘In My Shoes’ demo, to the thumpingly literal-minded video for hit single ‘Spoils Of War’, and to this, in which it is incorrectly asserted that Pavilion are the new Hoosiers. They aren’t.

Plaintive frontman and songwriter Andy Howden is currently working on a side-project that might well shake Wakefield to its foundations. And I might well be making a small contribution. I’ll keep you posted.

(Oh, and while I’m dwelling on Wakefield’s limited glories, I might as well mention [and recommend] this place, which is both an alecentric new pub and an interesting new music venue in West Yorkshire’s first city. It’s owned by “the famous rock drummer with chart-topping indie band Embrace”, y’know.)
